Chapter 1: Introduction
Digital transformation (DT) has taken place
in the hotel industry, and companies have shaped the experience of the
customers. DT is applied in the tourism industry and AI, and IoT and these have
helped in the seamless experience giving. Smart travel and smart destination
choosing are becoming easier through the application of DT in business (UN
Tourism, 2025). Accor Hotel is a leading hospitality group in the world, and a
team of over 360,000 has been dedicated to the work process. The company has
over 45+ brands with 5700 hotels, and this brand has tailored new travelling
ways in this industry. Diverse experience is given to the customers, and
expectations of the guests are followed by Accor (Accor Group, 2025). On the
contrary, Travelodge is a UK-based hotel chain and it has branches all over the
UK, Ireland and Spain, and different rooms are available in every major city.
In the UK, it has almost 600 hotels and 47000 rooms, and guests are able to
find hotels through a map (Travelodge, 2025). This study will focus on the main
innovative digital tools used by companies for a better customer experience.
Challenges in the DT process and stakeholders' perspectives are going to be
discussed in this section.

AI
AI is used by Accor to continue the work
process properly, and it helps to provide a better customer experience. AI
helped Accor to generate more content, and scale-based content is generated in
the business. AI helped Accor to become smart, and it learned better about the
clients. VivaTech 2025 is the key solution of the company that helped it to
enhance more innovations in the industry. AI innovation also helped in the
generation to reduce food waste, and predictive stock management also became
easier. Kitchen operations are also easily completed through an AI application
in the business of Accor (Accor Group, 2025b).
